The state of Yucatan is one of the most privileged destinations in the Mexican southeast, boasting a perfect climate to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
They have also been distinguished as part of the Platinum beaches by the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Certification, thus joining the selective list of the most famous beaches in Yucatan and Mexico.
The nearly 400 kilometers of the most famous beaches in Yucatan are home to unprecedented landscapes. The state offers jungle environments, picturesque villages, nature reserves and waters colored in emerald green and, in some places, turquoise blue tones, which envelop you in their great allure full of mysticism.
Celestun is one of the most famous beaches in Yucatan. It is a natural and ecotourism paradise with exceptional landscapes. Its vast beaches with abundant coconut trees and mangroves will become the ideal setting for lovers of outdoor activities. This area is part of the Ría Celestún Special Biosphere Reserve World Heritage Site, home to around 400 species of migratory birds that arrive in the state from December to March, making it an unparalleled natural spectacle.
One hour from the city of Mérida is Telchac Puerto, the best option for those looking for peace and quiet while on vacation. Its peaceful waters are perfect for swimming in peace. You can also visit the Museum of the Sea, the only space that exhibits various species of marine fossils, snails, shells and much more. This area is one of the most famous beaches in Yucatan.
Not far away is the beautiful Laguna Rosada, which is one of the most famous beaches in Yucatan. This body of water has a unique pink color, belonging to La Salinera de Xtampú. In addition to getting spectacular photos, it is possible to learn more about how salt is extracted.

Transfers from one point to another are relatively simple, thanks to the excellent roads of Yucatan. For this reason, it is advisable to visit the Mayan culture in the archaeological area of X’Cambo, one of the few ruins near the coast, which would have been an ancient fishing port that supplied food to the main cities.
Cancunito, located in Río Lagartos, is just three hours from the state capital and very close to Las Coloradas, famous for its large pink pools.
Cancunito stands out as one of the most famous beaches in the Yucatan and one of the most spectacular, offering visitors fantastic natural landscapes. This tropical paradise is full of mangroves and coastal dunes which, thanks to its vegetation, form an extraordinary ecosystem where species such as hawksbill, white and loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs.
Half an hour from Cancunito is San Felipe, a small fishing and tourist port. In San Felipe we find rustic wooden houses with multiple colors that, together with its natural attractions, invite you to enjoy a day at the beach, where the white sand and the peaceful tranquility of the place are everyday things .
Today, San Felipe has become one of the most important tourist sites in Yucatan due to the unique beauty that surrounds it, especially for those who like to cohabit with nature.

Finally, Rio Lagartos, a small traditional fishing port, is today one of the best kept “secrets” of the Yucatan Peninsula. At the entrance to a wildlife sanctuary known as Ría Lagartos (Parque Natural Reserva Ría Lagartos), where you will find the best of nature, it is possible to enter the world of hundreds of bird species and crocodiles that live there.
El Cuyo is located on the northeast tip of the Yucatan, just three hours from the state capital. This little paradise is one of the unique corners of the region, at the very end of the Costa Esmeralda. Its main attraction is to be where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea are one, the nature of its waters mixed with the wind makes it ideal for the practice of sports such as sailing and kitesurfing.
