After our little Inspired by the 80s (and very loud luxury) broadcast coverage featuring none other than Sofia Richie Grainge, the it-girl of 2023I can’t say I was surprised to find a slideshow showcasing one of the biggest and most relevant trends of the time appears on her Instagram feed. That’s not to say I wasn’t happy to see it there, especially since I’ve been rallying around the return to vintage outerwear glory for some time. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I’m referring to the tapered, gold-buttoned, big-shouldered blazers and jackets of fashion’s often sleepy decade which, thanks to brands like Saint Laurent, Alaïa, Schiaparelli, and more again, are making a strong comeback for the fall.
Richie Grainge, in particular, chose a highlighter yellow version of the style, with his featuring a military-style collar and a longline silhouette. Although the photos, which she captioned with just a lemon emoji, don’t show her full cut, she appears to be wearing black jeans and carrying a Hermès Swift Kelly bag, a style that is currently on sale for over $15,000 (casual).
While styles similar to Richie Grainge’s are all over the second hand market – I usually check RealReal every morning before I get up – brands like Zara, H&M and many more also launch on the market. 80s blazer trend, making it both easy and affordable to emulate the look of newlyweds.
