Eugene, OR based Wolf Spirit Distillery launched Mr. Pickles Pacific Northwest Gin, named after master distiller Ben Green’s pit bull rescue pup.
Mr. Pickles was distilled from 100% white winter wheat, sourced locally from Camas country mill. The base alcohol is distilled three times, with the final distillation including a steam basket to introduce the botanicals.
The end result is notes of juniper, softened by 11 other botanicals, including sencha green tea, pink peppercorns and marshmallow root, the company says. Mr. Pickles Gin opens with flavors of citrus and sweet herbs, with a black pepper undernote, the company adds. Woody notes accompany aromatic pine and more traditional spices, anchored in an earthy, herbaceous base.
“We created this gin to honor Mr. Pickles for his loyalty, friendship and undying love to everyone at Wolf Spirit,” says Green. “Mr. Pickles may seem intimidating, but he really is a warm, welcoming spirit filled with unbridled joy, and I think we’ve done a great job of capturing that in our first gin.
Mr. Pickles is 86 proof and sells for a suggested price of $34.99 per 750ml. bottle.
