For the 10 years of Stuart Vevers at the head of Coach, the brand knew that a regular fashion show just wouldn’t do. Thursday night’s fashion party was held inside the New York Public Library in front of a host of celebrity guests including Jennifer Lopez, Camila Mendes, Lil Nas X, Chase Stokes, Lola Tung, Dove Cameron, India Amarteifio, Benito. Skinner and more.
Immediately after the show, guests were ushered further into the library, first for a cocktail reception on the entry level, before heading to the Edna Barnes Salomon Room for a seated dinner. As front-row VIPs like Lopez and Stokes quickly exited after the final bow, the rest of the group joined in the fun, relishing the NYPL’s spectacular staircase as the perfect backdrop for a photo op before even putting on the feet in dinner.
While before the show Stokes had deemed the night “too hot to wear anything else” when it came to her white tank top, Mendes bravely posed at dinner in a Coach leather trench coat while Lil Nas X wore a matching white jacket and pants ensemble, complete with a pair of heavy moto boots seen on the catwalk. He refused to discuss publicly before dinner, as he put a piece of corn from the prepared salad dish in his mouth.
As guests settled in and chatted, flutes of champagne were served before a toast to Vevers’ decade at Coach and New York.
“Just thinking about the New York stories about this place…gives me the chance to share Coach’s story and mine about New York within these hallowed walls,” Vevers told the room. “Coach is the reason I came to New York and has been a constant part of my New York story since I arrived 10 years ago. New York has of course changed enormously, as has Coach’s place in the fashion world. Now I am husband and father.
“New York is where I created my family and I want to thank my husband and my children,” he said, choked, in front of a room full of applause.
