Emirates has announced the purchase of fifteen additional Airbus A350-900s for $6 billion at the 2023 Dubai Airshow.
This brings Emirates’ total order book for the A350 to 65 units.
“The A350-900s will complement our fleet and we are pleased to announce additional orders for this aircraft type,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group. We plan to use our A350s to serve a range of new markets, including long-haul flights up to 15 hours from Dubai. We will work closely with Airbus and Rolls-Royce to ensure our aircraft provide our customers with the best operational efficiency and flying experience.
“This week’s Emirates orders are all carefully planned to support our future growth and the economic vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai.” The Emirates experience is often the first impression visitors have of Dubai, and we want it to be the best.
“With this agreement, we mark another important milestone in the long-standing relationship between Emirates and Airbus,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International. A relationship based on the search for innovation, efficiency and operational excellence. We are also proud of what the A350 will do in the years to come, just as the A380 has established itself at the heart of Emirates’ operations. »
The first A350 will enter the Emirates fleet in August 2024 and, with today’s orders, Emirates will receive A350s until early 2028.
Emirates will have a total order book of 310 wide-body aircraft after placing an order for 95 more Boeing jets on Monday.
